my last variation on the rolled braided flower
Who doesn't love wearing these darling rolled flower headbands? {which are super easy to make btw - if you're ever wanting to learn just google them & step by step instructions will show up} This is my last post on the rolled braided flower for hair - for those of you who are sick of seeing this flower!! I've been meaning to post this forever - & I'm really excited to. There are so many ways you can wear the rolled braided flower & this is just another fun way. Also - for those of you whose girls don't like keeping the headbands in all day, {ahem} mine, this is a perfect way to do a foe head band
Do the rolled braid just like we've done in the previous post {if you haven't seen it - scroll down to get instructions - it's just a few posts before this} I then did another smaller one next to it, doing the exact same thing. For the third one, I just did it smaller, between the already there flowers. I tried to overlap it as much as possible over the 2 flowers to make it look close together & it looks better. **When I say smaller - I mean make the braid smaller - not quite as thick.

Rolled Braided Flower
This little girlie has started kindergarten!! We are thrilled & she's lovin' it!! Who knows where we've been - we've just let time slip past us. But I'm still around - posting:)
My sister is fabulous & she actually came up with this idea - I had to ask if I could put it on here it's so genius. You know those darling flowers made out of material - that are rolled & are just so cute? Well - she thought it would be fun to try it on hair. I am in love with it & we've done it a few times since. It is one of those that YOU can do on yourself, on your girlie or even a teenager could wear. Don't we love those? I'm just sad that my hair's too short do fun things like this anymore.
CHECK back because I'm going to post another variation of this darling rolled braided flower
It starts out really easy & simple. Just pull a section of hair back & braid it. I wanted the braid back a little bit - so it didn't sit right on top of her head or too close to her forehead so just bring as far back as you would like. Secure end of braid with an elastic leaving no more than 2" at the bottom

a down do

I love my little girl's hair down but I have to do something with the front or else it's in her eyes & face & it drives me nuts. This is SUPER easy & can be done on short or long & it was very quick. & I actually recycled this hairdo which I usually never do - but it looked really good the next day, so I pulled her hair into a side pony on that same side, braided it & it looked really cute.
Start with four elastics on the side that you part it on.

Where have I been???
Wow!! Where has the time seriously gone? Life has just been crazy, crazy!! I keep thinking it's going to slow down this week - but it only gets worse. We are getting ready to go to Costa Rica next week so I've been trying to get lots done before we leave, which includes a project for Super Saturday that is like the next day we get home & I started teaching piano this fall & my little girlie is in preschool & the mornings (even though she leaves at 11:) we just don't have time to sit & take pictures - so there you have it. But I promise - I'm still around!! I actually have a couple hairdos that I have ready to post - it's just the "getting around to it" part that's hard. I know people are waiting for a new post so here's something VERY VERY quick that hopefully anyone can do:

Part the hair on the side. French braid just a few strands down on one side (if you aren't very good at french braiding or dont' know how, just do a regular braid - it would work just as well)

It's yet another Fancy Nancy hairdo
I had someone email me this picture recently asking if I could explain how they ended it so I thought it would be fun to share how to do this. First, I didn't make my braid as thick as her's is in this picture so it makes a big difference. Also, there are many ways you can end this: do one on each side & bring them together. Only do this one side & go around as far as you want, putting a bobby pin in place to hold it, or do what I did for this fancy nancy party.
She got invited to another fancy nancy party, which she so loves birthday parties, but the ones she gets to get all dressed up for - she loves even more. You can see how my braid is much smaller than hers up top because we did 2 braids instead of 1.
This picture is kind of dark - sorry! You start off with your 3 strand braid. Then you add only ONE side:the top - just like we've done on a braid a few posts back.
Instead of adding that NEW strand into your braid, keep it down & just go ahead & keep your braid going, adding one strand & keeping it down as you get to the left side. If you look closely - you can see I've dropped my fourth piece or piece I have just added. It is a little awkward at first & don't worry if the hair is all bunchy at the top - it is fixable!!

down & curly
These pictures just don't do it justice how cute this really is. My husband loves when I keep her hair down & he just kept saying how cute it was today. It's the curls - they're too cute not to try. It makes her looks so grown up:( But it also makes her hair look thicker than what it really is.
I let her hair air dry today. Then I put some curling gel from Garnier Fructis all over. I pinned the bangs back before I started to curl away.
I'm going to have to demonstrate these curls - it's the same way I curl mine & I've been doing them more often on her lately & they seem to hold a lot better than wringlet curls. I start by curling just the top layer. Then go fill in spots (i ended up curling all of her hair but on myself, I don't curl all of the underneath - it gets too thick). You hold the curling iron closer to the base of the head & wrap the hair around the curling iron & hold for 20-25 seconds. After I've gone all the way around - I brush my fingers through to make it not look "just off the curling iron look". Then I spray pretty good with hair spray to hold it. That's it. This would work on any length of hair. Try it out & let me know how it worked on your girlie.

Down Today
I don't normally like her hair down without pulling the sides up & out of her face. But today was an exception. I thought if one side was up, it wouldn't be so bad with the other side down (she seems to be too little to understand that you can tuck your hair behind your ear)
I parted the hair on a slant, but part it however you want.
Do 3 twists back, securing them with bobby pins. I personally think the twists work better if the hair is a little damp.
Round brush the hair & add polmade so that the other side isn't constantly falling in her face & stringy. Spray to hold & add your cute flower.
